Karl McColgan (born 1990) originating from Middlesbrough now based in the North East, is a practicing artist and photographer.

Throughout my degree in Fine Art at York St John University, I have focused my creativity into developing a distinct and unusual language articulated through photography and film. This language is punctuated with psychological themes and a preoccupation with the flaws of sociability and self-image.  Lens based technology plays a significant role in the creation of my art as it enables me to  best capture the behaviour of the human form and reconstruct the sensations it exposes through the voyeuristic gaze of the camera lens.
